The purpose of my
artistic adventure is to understand the true depths of human state of
being, the awareness to its environment, the impact of various phenomena
over people emotions, the nature of human mind and its true vocation.
As an artist during the
process of creation I become a bridge between the subconscious intuition
the final product. My art is not a tremendous physical or intellectual
effort, when it is a release of energy from my subconscious mind. This
statement does not mean that my art is unintentional; my hands, my eyes,
my whole body feel intensely the emotions and the true passion for
beauty, insisting on giving the desired shapes and colors, I carefully
prepared before.
In my every day life I
surround myself with beautiful belongings and collect interesting human
experiences that will keep my imagination and inspiration open to
explore unknown paths. I carefully observe and isolate details of
various objects, I explore the meaning of them, as symbols; using my
imagination I experiment the reaction they might produce after expressed
in a designated medium. I usually record and prepare thousands of images
over long periods of times, before I start to paint. Nevertheless, when
I get absorbed in the process of making the painting, the moment becomes
timeless.
I depict one image of one
idea at the time, like the landscapes focusing only on trees. The
landscapes are deceased, lacking flora, fauna or human connections, to
purposely create panic conveying the sound death, silence and
loneliness. The vibrations from nature have been suppressed in our
souls, in favor of the clatter of our every day thoughts and feelings.
People experience withdrawal from seeing. The connection with nature and
the true origins of life have been buried. The trees I paint express the
unwillingness of an individual to commingle with the world.
Over the years, I have
not committed to the study of only one style to constrain myself from
representing different complex ideas from various perspectives. I have
not committed myself to represent a certain culture either, even though
I was born and raised in Romania, influenced by Balkan’s culture until
reaching maturity. I have not committed myself to gratify the recipients
of the message, as I have never been concerned about getting pleasure,
confirmation or security from painting.
A painting constrained by
norms has no character. From this point of view, painting is like love -
it is about giving not receiving.
